"Sandy Belock-Phippen is an artist living on the North Shore of Boston.  She studied art at Carnegie Mellon University and graduated with a BFA in painting from Rhode Island School of Design. She was a member of the RISD European Honors Program, Rome, Italy and served as illustrator for Brown University’s Archaeological Expedition, Certosa de San Lorenzo, Padula, Italy for two seasons.

She illustrated A Catalogue of Classical Vases for the Museum of Art, Rhode Island School of Design and A Marine Atlas of the Atlantic Coast for Duke University Marine Laboratory, Beaufort, NC.

She has attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and studied printmaking at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC. and more recently independent study at Fondazione Il Bisonte, Florence, Italy

She has exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Winston Salem, NC; Woods Gerry Mansion, Providence, RI; Palazzo Cenci, Rome, Italy; Porter Mill Gallery, Beverly MA and Studio 412, Boston, MA.

She has work in a number of public and private collections, here and abroad. Her work encompasses a variety of mediums and subject matter including portraiture, landscape and interiors, distinguished by the fluid handling of the medium and luminosity of color. “I strive for an immediacy and spontaneity in my work and yet a sense of timelessness that transcends contemporary fashions.”"
