Landscapes and Still Life Oil Paintings

I am a native of the beautiful and colorful island of Puerto Rico. As a child, I enjoyed the beaches as part of life to be with loved ones and friends. There, even as a young boy, I drew “sirenas” (mermaids) in the wet sand, built sand sculptures and created other sand models and drawings. I continued my love for art through sketching people and watching my father and sister while they painted/sketched scenes of the island, family members and friends.

This experience inspired me to study art formally at Lehman and Hunter College in New York while also attending the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. After I moved to Boston, I took classes at the Massachusetts College of Art and the Museum of Fine Arts where I focused on painting the human body in their live nude classes. I greatly enjoy the Impressionistic influence on my work, especially Cézanne and Monet. I also enjoy the realism and characteristics of Caravaggio, Velázquez as well. Currently, I am focusing on Landscapes and Still Life. I welcome you to view and discuss my work. Thank you.
