Katherine Downey Miller is an artist from New England. She attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, earning a BS in Studio Arts and then an MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Her work centers on nature and her surroundings. Predominately ideas of figurativeness and abstraction in the landscape.
After graduating with her MFA, Katherine was a teaching assistant in Painting and Drawing at the Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village, CO, then a teaching scholarship to Studio Arts Centers International in Florence, Italy, concentration in Painting. After returning to the States, she taught at the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, Nantucket Island School of the Design and the Arts, The Arlington Center for the Arts and privately. Currently, she is teaching at the Danforth Musuem in Framingham, MA, the New Art Center in Newtonville, MA as well as privately. Katherine is the Artist in Residence at Newbury Court in Concord, MA where she teaches Painting and Drawing as well as directs the art exhibits. He focus along with teaching at Newbury Court is Art and Healing.
Katherine’s work has been shown throughout New England in Boston and New York City, Colorado and Italy.
